Design-Build is the project delivery choice for many owners as it provides single source responsibility while reducing the overall time for completion. As a premier Design-Build contractor, Geiger Brothers fully and effectively coordinates the design, permitting and construction in which the owner, architect, engineer and contractor function as an integrated team.

Geiger Brothers' experience in the Design-Build process dates back to the late 1960s and has continued through today. Under contract to The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, the company designed and built manufacturing facilities at Logan and Jackson, Ohio. When approached by one of the nation's largest cabinet manufacturers, Merillat Industries, the company designed and built not only the original facility at Jackson but most every expansion. The company designed and built several additions and a major renovation for Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. Geiger Brothers designed and built two high-bay vehicle service and transformer shop buildings for American Electric Power in Chillicothe and Gallipolis, Ohio.

With CDM Corporation, Geiger Brothers participated in “fast-track” Design-Build of the X-600 Dry Air Plant, an infrastructure project in preparation for and as part of Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion uranium enrichment plant Decontamination & Decommissioning (D&D). As a Design-Build partner, Geiger Brothers was initially responsible as part of the team for overhead pipe support and pipe spool fabrication and installation, underground system installation and then the facility construction and system installations.

Soon thereafter, under contract to Fluor/Babcock & Wilcox Portsmouth (FBP) at the Portsmouth site, Geiger Brothers was responsible for the design, engineering, supply, fabrication, field installation, testing and evaluation for a new Data Center. For the new X-690 gas-fired steam Boiler Plant at the Department of Energy Facility, Geiger Brothers was responsible for the civil, structural and architectural (CSA) work in addition to all mechanical and process design. The X-690 replaced the X-600 coal-fired steam plant that had been part of the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant (GDP) since 1953, providing for a much smaller carbon footprint and fewer emissions.

More recently, Murphy Tractor and Equipment Company chose Geiger Brothers as their Design-Build partner for a new complex near Jackson. The facility will include a 12,000 square foot building for offices, sales, the parts department and a 9,000-square-foot service area. Service features will include four large drive-through full maintenance bays, two 10-ton overhead cranes, and an interior wash bay.

As the Design-Build contractor for pedestrian bridge improvements on the Chillicothe campus of Ohio University, Geiger Brothers is responsible for developing and maintaining estimates of probable construction cost, value engineering, project schedules, and construction schedules; for leading and managing the schematic design, design development, and subcontractor prequalification and bidding process; and for construction documents and closeout stages. Direct construction work is to replace the bridge and provide a covered walkway to the main entrance of the building. Geiger Brothers provided several different schemes for the pedestrian bridge replacement, submitted alternates for the covered walkway, and designed a temporary stairway from the second floor to existing grade.

When you consider Geiger Brothers' history of success in performing thousands of square feet of Design-Build work, it’s clear why the company is one of the leading contractors in Southeastern Ohio continuingly able to offer this first-quality service.
