Safety & Health Officer
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a safe working environment within our Construction Projects. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying potential hazards, conducting training sessions, and implementing safety protocols. The Safety Officer will play a crucial role in maintaining the health and safety of all employees while adhering to OSHA standards and other relevant regulations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the facility to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and workers’ compensation laws.
- Provide training and development programs for employees on safety practices, first aid, CPR, and emergency response procedures.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety within the organization.
- Maintain accurate records of safety training sessions, incidents, inspections, and compliance documentation.
- Serve as a resource for employees regarding occupational health issues and environmental health and safety (EHS) matters.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a safety-related role within government construction projects is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, workers’ compensation law, and occupational health practices.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications in EHS or related fields are a plus.
- Excellent report writing skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in root cause analysis methodologies.
- Ability to conduct engaging training sessions for diverse groups of employees.
