Job Summary
The Training Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating employee training and development programs that support organizational goals, regulatory compliance requirements, and workforce competency. This position provides leadership for training initiatives, oversees training personnel, ensures required certifications and qualifications are maintained, and promotes continuous employee development throughout the organization.
The Training Supervisor works closely with management, project teams, safety professionals, quality personnel, and operations leaders to identify training needs, develop training solutions, and ensure employees possess the knowledge and skills necessary to perform their work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Training Program Management
- Develop, implement, and manage company training programs and qualification systems.
- Conduct training needs assessments for employees, supervisors, and management personnel.
- Oversee onboarding and orientation programs for new hires.
- Establish annual training plans and schedules.
- Ensure training materials remain current and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate classroom, practical, virtual, and computer-based training activities.
- Monitor training effectiveness through evaluations, testing, and field observations.
- Manage training budgets and resources.
Leadership and Supervision
- Supervise Training Coordinators, Instructors, and administrative support staff.
- Assign work activities and establish priorities for training personnel.
- Conduct employee performance reviews and coaching sessions.
- Mentor training staff and support professional development.
- Promote consistency and quality across all training programs.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, NRC, and customer-specific training requirements.
- Maintain qualification and certification records.
- Monitor training expiration dates and recertification requirements.
- Prepare documentation for audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
- Support internal and external compliance assessments.
Course Development
- Develop and revise training materials, presentations, lesson plans, examinations, and practical evaluations.
- Coordinate subject matter experts for specialized technical training.
- Integrate adult learning principles into training programs.
- Develop role-specific qualification pathways and competency matrices.
- Evaluate industry best practices and emerging technologies for training improvements.
Records Management
- Maintain electronic and hard-copy training records.
- Manage Learning Management System (LMS) databases and training documentation.
- Generate compliance reports and training metrics.
- Ensure documentation retention requirements are met.
- Track employee qualifications and competency status.
Safety and Environmental Training
- Coordinate delivery of training related to:
- OSHA Compliance
- Hazard Communication
- Lockout/Tagout
- Fall Protection
- Excavation & Trenching
- Confined Space Entry
- Respiratory Protection
- Hearing Conservation
- Heat Stress Prevention
- Hoisting & Rigging
- Environmental Compliance
- Emergency Response
- Hazardous Waste Operations (HAZWOPER)
- Support safety culture initiatives and employee engagement programs.
Continuous Improvement
- Monitor training completion rates and program performance.
- Analyze training trends and competency gaps.
- Develop corrective actions for identified deficiencies.
- Recommend improvements to training delivery methods and content.
- Support organizational learning and workforce development initiatives.
Required Qualifications / Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Occupational Safety, Human Resources, Business Administration, Construction Management, Industrial Technology, Organizational Development, or related field; Equivalent experience may be considered.
Experience
- 5–10 years of progressive training, instructional, safety, operational, or workforce development experience.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
- Experience developing and presenting training programs.
- Experience managing regulatory compliance training requirements.
Preferred Qualifications / Experience
Education
Master’s Degree in Adult Education, Organizational Leadership, Safety Management, or related discipline.
Experience
- Experience supporting construction, industrial, manufacturing, government, DOE, nuclear, or utility operations.
- Experience administering Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Experience managing large workforce qualification programs.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Strong understanding of adult learning methodologies.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
- Knowledge of OSHA, NRC, EPA, DOT, and industry-specific regulatory requirements.
- Experience developing training curricula and qualification programs.
- Strong leadership and supervisory abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Learning Management Systems.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to evaluate training effectiveness using data and performance metrics.
Working Conditions
- Combination of office, classroom, and field environments.
- Frequent interaction with employees, supervisors, management, contractors, and clients.
- Occasional travel as required.
- May require evening or weekend training sessions as operational needs dictate.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to conduct classroom and field-based training activities.
- Ability to stand and present for extended periods.
- Ability to travel to project sites and company locations.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to occasionally lift training materials and equipment up to 25 pounds.
