Job Summary
The Assistant Construction Project Manager (APM) supports the planning and execution of construction projects in various sectors – industrial, commercial, healthcare, education, etc. This role assists with daily project coordination, documentation, cost tracking, and subcontractor management while developing the skills needed to progress into a Project Manager role.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager with day-to-day project execution
- Support scheduling, cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting
- Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and procurement items
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
- Participate in project meetings, progress reviews, and safety planning
- Maintain organized and accurate project documentation
- Assist with look-ahead schedules and field coordination
- Support quality inspections, punch lists, and closeout documentation
- Promote and support jobsite safety initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 0-5 years of experience in construction or project coordination
- Basic understanding of construction drawings, schedules, and contracts
- Familiarity with RFIs, submittals, and cost tracking
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Willingness to work on-site in an active construction environment
- Basic understanding of BIM modeling; able to manipulate a BIM model
