Job Summary
The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising logistics activities supporting the movement, storage, tracking, and delivery of equipment, materials, and supplies. This position provides direct oversight of Equipment Management Coordinators, Transportation/Delivery Coordinators, and Materials Management Coordinators to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of logistics operations.
The Logistics Supervisor serves as the primary point of coordination between Procurement, Project Management, Quality, Suppliers, Superintendents and other project team members to ensure resources are available when and where needed to support project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics Operations Management
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily logistics operations.
• Ensure equipment, materials, and supplies are available to support operational and project requirements.
• Develop and implement logistics processes that improve efficiency, reliability, and customer service.
• Monitor workload, priorities, and resource allocation across logistics functions.
• Identify and resolve logistical challenges while minimizing operational impacts.
Team Leadership
• Provide direct supervision, coaching, mentoring, and performance management for logistics personnel.
• Establish team goals, priorities, and performance expectations.
• Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and customer service.
• Support workforce planning, hiring, onboarding, and employee development activities.
• Develop cross-training plans to increase workforce flexibility and resiliency.
Equipment Management
• Oversee equipment tracking, deployment, utilization, and recoverability.
• Ensure equipment inventories are maintained and accurately documented.
• Coordinate with operations and project teams on equipment availability and allocation.
• Establish asset accountability practices and inventory control processes.
Transportation & Delivery Logistics
• Coordinate transportation activities for inbound and outbound shipments.
• Oversee scheduling, routing, and delivery activities.
• Monitor carrier performance and transportation costs.
• Ensure compliance with applicable shipping, transportation, and safety requirements.
• Resolve shipment delays, delivery issues, and transportation-related concerns.
Materials Management
• Oversee receiving, storage, issuance, staging, and movement of materials.
• Ensure inventory accuracy through audits, cycle counts, and reconciliation activities.
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels to support operational requirements.
• Coordinate material availability with procurement and project teams.
• Promote efficient warehouse and storage practices.
Compliance & Process Improvement
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
• Maintain accurate logistics records and reporting metrics.
• Identify and implement process improvements that reduce cost and improve service levels.
• Support internal and external audits as required.
• Develop and maintain logistics procedures, work instructions, and training materials.
Required Qualifications / Experience
Education
- Associate degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in logistics, materials management, transportation, warehousing, supply chain, or related operations.
- 2+ years of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.
- Experience using inventory, logistics, ERP, or asset management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications / Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field.
Experience
- Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, utility, energy, construction, or government operations.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Knowledge of logistics and supply chain management principles.
- Knowledge of inventory control and materials management practices.
- Understanding of equipment and asset accountability processes.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships across multiple departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience analyzing performance metrics and implementing operational improvements.
Working Conditions
This position is expected to work a standard full-time schedule in a construction environment. Additional hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required periodically to meet project requirements, project deadlines, and organizational needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk extensive construction, industrial, or operating facilities.
- Ability to climb stairs and access work locations across large project sites.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations at any time while on duty.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
